A fresh cover letter for every job

It is very convenient to use the last cover letter you wrote, change the company name, and send it to the employer. But, most employers want to see how much you value working with them, what interests you the most in that specific position or the company, etc. It is more like a custom letter showing them why you want to apply for that particular position. So, it is wise to write a fresh cover letter for each job you apply for.

A Killer Opening line

You can go without mentioning your name in the first line because the manager has already seen it your resume. You can mention the job you are applying for so that you can be a bit more specific about the position. You start like, ‘I am excited to apply for (job) with (company)’. It is good yet very simple. You can show your excitement and enthusiasm about working in that position with the company.

Be a problem solver

Most of the candidates make the mistake of telling the hiring manager how important this job is for their career and how will it affect their resume. Hiring managers don’t want to know that because they already do. They know how good their company is and what it is offering. Instead of doing that, mention the issues that their company might be facing and how you can resolve those issues. Show them that your experience makes you the right person for the job.

Highlight the Right Experience

Not sure about what skills and experiences must be mentioned in the cover letter? Well, look at the job description and your resume. You already have mentioned all the experiences and skills in your resume. Pick out the one that is most relevant to the job description and discuss things about it in the cover letter. Write about how that particular experience has made you the right fit for the position.

Keep it short

Nobody wants to read an essay about yourself. So, make sure you don’t go over a page when writing a cover letter. Keep it short and to the point. No need to add unnecessary details to make it look big. Just write about how your experience and skills are suitable for the job position they have. Don’t write long stories about how you achieved anything, your resume has got it all.

In the end, finish it with a strong line that makes them reply to you. You can write something passionate or show your excitement about their response. Also, don’t forget to edit the cover letter the right way and proofread it several times before sending it out. Make sure to use all the tips mentioned above and write a killer cover letter that gets you a response.
